Language memorization

Language memorization and globalization

Language memorization is an art, an art which everyone can master! It's a fact that everyone successfully learns a language at least once in their lives.

However, it is sadly also a fact that most people do not bother trying to learn a second one. Globalization is however forcing people to deal with language learning on an ever-increasing scale. Those who wish to feel comfortable in a foreign country and integrate themselves, have to learn the respective language. If they don't, the culture of and association with this country will remain inaccessible. What's more, the ability to communicate in a foreign country makes us feel great and increases our enthusiasm. And it is this feeling that generates our motivation to increase our knowledge of a language.

Is language memorization an art?

As everyone learns a language at least once in their lives, the problem is not that we do not have the necessary skills. All the same, only a minority of people learn a foreign language. Two factors are decisive for learning a language: the first one is motivation, which generally exists through an interest in a specific culture, a country or a personal relationship.

Economic interests may also strengthen motivation. Secondly, the motivated person must also know how language memorization can be completed successfully. In order to ensure the foreign language doesn't simply sound like a lot of funny noises, it is important that the vocabulary is learned early on, and the flashcards of the Remme Vocabulary Builder are the ideal tool for this.

With a basic vocabulary of between 500 and 1,000 words, it's worthwhile traveling to the country in question in order to expose oneself to the language on a daily basis. This ensures the words that have been learned are anchored deep within our memory. As our vocabulary in a language increases, the frequency in which we hear specific words on a daily basis decreases. A language holiday in a foreign country is not therefore enough on its own to learn specific terminology. The Remme Vocabulary Builder is, however, the perfect tool for this purpose, as it continually repeats the respective vocabulary over the long-term.

Verbal and written repetition of vocabulary do not have the same effect on our brains. It is therefore important to ensure both are trained when using flashcards! To train pronunciation, it is important that a high-quality sound recording is added to the flashcard. The vocabulary that is experienced in this manner must also be repeated in order to improve language learning. Another method, which has proven to be successful, is to note down the content of the flashcard being learned on a piece of paper. This additional, physical effort of writing down what is being practiced further improves the overall learning effect
